What is whole plant corn silage?

Whole plant corn silage is a high-quality feed made by harvesting corn from the late stage of milk ripening to the early stage of wax ripening, chopping the whole plant together with ears, stems, leaves, etc., and anaerobic fermentation. It is widely used to feed ruminant animals such as cattle and sheep.

It has the following core characteristics:

High utilization rate: Compared to using only corn kernels, whole plant silage can increase plant utilization rate to over 90%, achieving maximum resource utilization.

High nutritional value: After fermentation by lactic acid bacteria, the feed is rich in lactic acid, sugar, and digestible fiber, with good palatability and high digestibility. It is known as the "king of energy" for beef cattle fattening.

Stable supply: Can be stored for a long time (several years), effectively alleviating the shortage of green feed in winter and spring seasons.

Improving breeding efficiency: Feeding cows with whole plant silage can increase daily milk production by 3.64 kilograms and daily weight gain of beef cattle by 330 grams.

The key to production includes: timely harvesting (at 1/2 to 3/4 of the milk line), cutting to a length of 1-2 centimeters, rapid compaction (density ≥ 700kg/m ³), and strict sealing and fermentation for 40-60 days.
